A packed ringside of enthusiasts gathered at Newark Saturday last, to witness the Autumn Show and Sale of Pedigree Lincoln Red Cattle.

A decent catalogued entry and plenty of quality met buyers in somewhat a subdued mood with plenty of talk of winter feeding costs, which has been a reflection throughout all the beef breed pedigree sales nationally this Autumn.

Top price of the day, was a tremendous heifer HEMINGBY TREASURE L564;  this September 2008 daughter of St Fort Essex and out of a MARKET STAINTON UPSTART cow, sold PD’d in calf to the record priced (10,000gns) WALMER LEGEND.  HEMINGBY TREASURE was purchased at 3,000gns (a record price for Lincoln Red Heifers) by Messrs FIELD FARMING COMPANY, UPTON, SOUTHWELL, NOTTS.

BEV WRIGHT took the female champion, in the Show, with BEVANN HEROINE L1 (January 2008) sired by BEVERLEY ADVENTURER and out of a McTURK HANSARD cow, sold PD’d in calf at 1,900gns Mr F THOMPSON, STONESBY, MELTON MOBRAY, LEICS.
