Lincoln Red Beef

Why is Lincoln Red beef the best?
High quality beef that is full of flavour.

Native cattle like Lincoln Reds are more likely to have grazed grass and eaten hay or silage in winter because of their ability to thrive on such a diet not needing the grain fuelled rations that continental breeds use.

So why is grass fed beef better?

Firstly, it has more vitamins particularly A, B, D, E, K and minerals; Iron & Zinc and less cholesterol. It contains a better amino acid profile particularly more Omega 3 which has the health benefits of oily fish. Having good levels of conjugated linoleic acid which has various positive attributes. The increased levels of antioxidants, as well as being good in our diet, also has a preserving effect inthe butcher’s cold room allowing grass fed beef to be hung for longer improving flavour and tenderness.

As we say in the north
“it tastes good and buy ‘eckit does yagood!”

Environmentally grassland contains 50% more carbon than arable soils therefore it is absorbing more greenhouse gases than cereal fed beef with a lower fossil fuel requirement. The taste is the biggest reward. Look out for the yellow tinge to the fat it indicates that it is grass fed!
