Lincoln Red sells to high of 5,800 Guineas
Lincoln Red Bull Trade at the Lincoln Red Premier Pedigree Spring and Multibreeds Show & Sale on Saturday 26th March 2022 at Melton Mowbray Market saw the highest priced Bull; out of all the Breeds; from Michael Read’s famous Hemingby Herd, in Lincolnshire; Hemingby Zander sold for 5,800 Gns to David Wright’s Starlite Herd in Derbyshire. Hemingby Zander was Reserve Senior and Reserve Supreme Champion Lincoln Red Bull. He is Sired by Hemingby Illustrious out of Hemingby Treasure P732.
Senior and Supreme Champion and Interbreed Champion Bull, Walmer Zion, Sired by Brackenhurst Ranger out of Walmer Lobelia U1115, from H M & J M Needler’s legendary Walmer Herd, also in Lincolnshire, sold for 4,000 Gns to Chris & Melissa Page’s Foulness Herd, in East Yorkshire.
Reserve Junior Champion, St. Fort Zodiac, Sired by Walmer Troy out of Walmer Blossom U1126, from A Mylius & Partner’s of St. Fort, Fife, prominent St. Fort Herd; sold to 2,200 Gns to David & Julie Inman’s Lindum Herd, Leicestershire. Also selling for 2,200 Gns was Beverley Zion ET, Sired by Beverley Wingman out of Beverley Miss K42 from the Clough Family’s renowned Beverley Herd, in Lincolnshire.
A total of 5 bulls sold to an overall average of: 3,140 Gns (£3,297)
13 Females sold to an overall average of: 1,079 Gns (£1,133)
Top priced female was from Tom Green’s well-known Chestnut Tree Herd, Lincolnshire, a Maiden Heifer Chestnut Tree Teasel Z160, sired by Beverley Samson out of Chestnut Tree Teasel T77, sold for 1,450 Gns to Robin & Deb Whittle’s Wellhouse Herd, Carmarthenshire. Maiden Heifer Beverley Miss Z94 Sired by Yarn Hill Xchequer out of Beverley Miss X19, from the Clough Family’s Beverley Herd sold for 1,200 Gns to Jonathan & Elaine Bradley’s Holthead Herd in West Yorkshire.
Selling for 1,180 Gns to Richard Garner’s Ortum Herd, Lincolnshire, were Lots 61 to 63 all from the Beverley stable, maiden heifers; Beverley Miss Z72 sired by Beverley Vantage out of Beverley Miss V93; Beverley Gift Z80 (twin) sired by Yarn Hill Xchequer out of Beverley Gift W30 and Beverley Annie Z79 sired by Beverley Vantage out of Beverley Annie S29.
The winning Pen of a Pair of Heifers (in Sale only) went to Tom Green’s, Chestnut Tree Herd : Chestnut Tree Mattie Z159 & Chestnut Tree Teasel Z160 both sired by Beverley Samson.
